      The discipline of pediatrics was the first to be entitled to confer doctor's degree in Guangxi in 1984. It was the first to have found unusual hemoglobin E and new unusual type ß Mediterranean Anaemia of the in the world and the first to have made prenatal diagnosis of Mediterranean Anaemia domestically. 30 kinds of unusual hemoglobin, types and compound of Mediterranean Anaemia were found, among which "hemoglobin __ Du-an and hemoglobin __ Wuming" were first reported in the world and listed in the international pedigree of hemoglobin, which filled in the blank of our country in the hemoglobin studies in the world. Another 5 kinds are domestic initial reports.

Doctoral Discipline · Oncology

The discipline of oncology integrates scientific research on tumor and teaching with treatment of diseases. Since the establishment of the discipline, it has been awarded 35 prizes for scientific achievements at the provincial level and above, among which one is the second class and the other is the third class. The four main research directions are as follows: 1. experimental researches on the etiology, pathogeny and interception of liver cancer; 2.the integrated prevention and treatment of the liver cancer; 3.the basic and clinical researches on malignant tumor of women; 4.the basic and clinical researches on nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Doctoral Discipline · Human Anatomy and Histo-embryology

       Human anatomy and histo-embryology is the key discipline of GMU. It has three long and steady research directions in physique anthropology, cell biology and nerve anatomy. It obtained successively 5 research projects of the state natural scientific funds and over 50 projects of the provincial and ministerial levels and the levels of provincial departments. Among them, two are listed as the projects of the state natural scientific funds, one of which was ranked as the project of the State's 973 plans. The discipline has been awarded over 10 prizes for scientific achievements at the national level and the levels of the provincial departments.

Doctoral Discipline · Harmacology

      Pharmacology is the key discipline of GMU. Its research directions are as follows: (1) neuro-pharmacology; (2) biochemical pharmacology; (3) toxicology of snake venom; (4) molecule organism.

      The research competence reaches the national and international levels and wins good reputation at home and abroad. The discipline was awarded from 1995 to 2000 4 prizes of “Guangxi scientific and technological progress” and other 3 prizes at the levels of the provincial departments.
